P.E.

The Bluebell Federation's PE intent is to inspire all children to develop a love of physical activity and sport. Through good physical education, whole school values and a whole child approach, we aim to nurture confident, resilient children who will strive for their personal best. We want to aid our children in obtaining the values and skills to celebrate and respect the success of others, as well as modestly celebrating their own successes. We aim to ensure that our delivery of physical education allows all children to have the skills and mindset to leave primary school with the capabilities to be successful in their sporting challenges and active lifestyles at secondary school and beyond. We strive to educate both our children and families to develop a greater understanding on how to live healthy lifestyles and make healthy choices. We are dedicated to ensuring healthy minds, as well as bodies and will continue to support our children's well-being.

At Forest Row, we use the GetSet4Pe scheme of work to plan our lessons. Through our curriculum map, we ensure that there is a clear progression of skills and that children are increasingly challenged as they move through the school.

All children in Years 3 and 4 have the opportunity to go swimming at the Kings Centre in East Grinstead. The children have weekly sessions taught by qualified swimming instructors. Those children who are unable to swim 25m unaided at the end of these sessions, will have access to top-up sessions in Year 5 and 6.

This year, we welcomed Mr McCarthy from Tollo Sports Academy to our team. Mr McCarthy takes each class for one of their two P.E sessions a week. In addition, he runs training sessions for tournaments and accompanies teams to events.

Beacon Sports

This year, we are again part of the Beacon Academy cluster for sports. Over the course of the year, our children have the opportunity to take part in a range of sporting tournaments and events such as football, tag rugby, athletics and tennis.
